GC Cuts Job-Site Downtime 70% with Hurricane-Resilient Procore Deployment
A South Florida general contractor running 4 simultaneous job sites needed Procore deployed to 90+ field users on a network that could survive hurricane season — and integrate cleanly with their accounting platform.
The client
A South Florida general contractor specializing in mid-rise commercial construction, with approximately 140 employees and 4 active job sites at any time across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Roughly 90 field users (PMs, superintendents, foremen, field engineers) needed mobile access to Procore for daily logs, RFIs, drawings, and submittals. The firm runs Viewpoint Vista for accounting.
The situation
Before BASG, the firm's job-site IT looked like most South Florida contractors:
- Single-carrier cellular hotspots that dropped during heavy rain or carrier outages.
- Consumer-grade routers in trailers, replaced every 6–9 months due to heat damage.
- Inconsistent Procore adoption — some PMs used it, some still ran daily logs in spreadsheets.
- No integration between Procore and Viewpoint Vista — invoices were re-entered manually.
- 2024 hurricane season cost the firm an estimated 11 working days of cumulative job-site downtime.
The constraints
- No active job-site shutdown. Every site was on a delivery schedule; field IT had to be deployed without halting work.
- Hurricane season window. Deployment had to be complete before June 1.
- Field-friendly devices. Equipment had to handle South Florida heat (90°F+ trailers), humidity, and dust.
- Procore-Vista integration. Required to reduce manual invoice re-entry, an audit and labor pain point.
BASG's approach
- Site survey and standardization. Surveyed each job site and standardized on a commercial-grade SD-WAN appliance with multi-carrier cellular failover (AT&T + Verizon) and a wired-fallback option from the closest carrier. All gear rated for high-temperature environments.
- Procore deployment with role-based onboarding. Mapped Procore roles (PM, super, foreman, field engineer) to existing org structure, deployed Procore mobile apps via mobile device management (MDM), and ran in-trailer training sessions over two weeks per site.
- Procore ↔ Viewpoint Vista integration. Configured the supported integration to sync vendors, commitments, and invoices, eliminating most manual re-entry. Validated against a parallel run for one full billing cycle.
- Hurricane resilience. Deployed satellite uplink kits to each trailer as a tertiary failover, documented a hurricane-prep runbook (gear-down, data backup, reboot order), and pre-staged replacement appliances in the BASG Miami office.
- Ongoing managed support. Transitioned the firm onto BASG's managed IT plan with 24/7 monitoring, after-hours field support during storm events, and quarterly reviews.
Outcomes
- ~70% reduction in job-site network downtime across the first 12 months.
- Procore rolled out to 90+ field users, with daily-log adoption above 95% (up from ~50%).
- Procore ↔ Vista integration live, eliminating most manual invoice re-entry and saving an estimated 10–12 hours/week of accounting labor.
- Hurricane resilience proven during the 2025 storm season — no full-site outages, only short failovers between carriers.
- Standardized commercial-grade gear across all 4 sites; replacement frequency dropped from 9 months to 3+ years.
Anonymized client testimonial
"We had been duct-taping job-site IT for years. BASG showed up, surveyed every site, and deployed gear that actually holds up in this climate. Procore adoption was the side benefit — the real win was that storm season stopped costing us a week of downtime."
— VP of Operations, mid-rise commercial GC, South Florida
